Education Services

LSR Consulting is dedicated to providing the health care industry with compliance education focused on the critical laws and regulations that impact the health care community.  A principal audience for our services is the physician community; physicians face an extraordinarily complex set of state and federal laws in connection with running their medical practice, but few have had the resources or opportunity to be educated about how these laws affect them. The courses offered by LSR Consulting provide participants with a basic foundation of the laws and legal principles that present the greatest risk of potential liability to physicians and their practices. Having this foundation will enable physicians to understand the regulatory and practice risks and take steps to prevent potential violations in the future.

Course Topics

LSR’s courses focus on the areas that we believe are the most relevant for physicians to operate a compliant practice. The most significant risks for physician practices arise from laws governing fraud and abuse, where a violation may result in extensive financial penalties, exclusion from participation in health care programs, or, in the extreme cases, incarceration.  As a result, the foundation of LSR’s curriculum is a comprehensive overview of the fraud and abuse laws, including a discussion of the principal enforcement cases, combined with a series of real-world scenarios that face physicians in their daily practice.

In addition, physicians face increasing risk of litigation from patients who are not happy with the results of their care.  Therefore, a related course will address risk management concerns that threaten physicians’ financial stability.

Other courses are available on request, including those addressing employment law issues, advertising risks, and certain corporate issues when dealing with outside investors.

Consulting Services

LSR Consulting also offers consulting services that address a broad array of compliance issues.  Consulting engagements may relate to performing an analysis of potential risk areas for a practice, such as relationships with referral sources, or providing advice on certain proposed transactions with industry or other practices.

What LSR Consulting Does Not Provide

LSR Consulting does not provide legal services. If legal services are required or advised, LSR Consulting will refer a client to a qualified law firm. Where appropriate, we are happy to work cooperatively with legal counsel.
